Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is my credit card number safe?
A: Probably Not. We’re doing everything we can to try and make your online transaction as safe as possible. We (Troop 925) do not record or store your credit card information anywhere on any of our systems. The payment processing system we are using for 2017 is STRIPE. Your credit card information is handed off directly to STRIPE – and then after the transaction completes in about 2 days Stripe will transfer money directly into the Troop 925 bank account.
Q: What do you mean by “Probably Not”?!?
A: We’re just parents trying to fund our Boy Scout Troop – not internet security experts. If companies like J.P. Morgan Chase and Home Depot and Target and the State of South Carolina can’t keep our credit card information safe, Troop 925 isn’t any better equipped to do it either.
Q: Something went wrong on the website – who do I call?
A: Jason Jones is the primary webmaster – email is great email@example.com or call my cell phone: 704-905-3367. Kreg Steppe is also a webmaster firstname.lastname@example.org.
Q: Tell me about your freezer safe microwave safe containers.
A: We’re super picky about the containers we use. We’ve selected only the best high quality plastic containers from Wy Industries. You might recognize these as the “nice” containers that Chinese restaurants use for their take out soup.
Q: Your website is slow! Can you speed it up?
A: our primary purpose here is to maximize the monies for the Troop. Over years of cobbling together websites to help enable online sales a lot has been learned – and a lot has changed. We’re paying about $10/month “all in” for the website and database. When the sale is over we can revert to a $30/year plan and move the website preserving the work and transaction history (yeah!!). So the point is, we’re paying very little for what we have maximizing the monies to the Troop. if you find the website completely unbearable then order your BBQ from a Leader or Scout via PAPER! We’d be DELIGHTED to take your paper order. Contact us if you need to place a paper order. (We accept Check and Cash on paper)
A2: New for 2016 is a major update and rehosting which has resulted in tremendous performance improvements!
A3: New for 2017 we’re retooled the site even more. Performance problems should be behind us.
A4: The 2018 season we’re keeping things the same as 2017 – the site seems to be working pretty well. Let us know if we’re wrong!
Q: I’m a Scout or Leader and I need more order forms.
A: Documents for Scouts and Leaders to take paper orders are available on facebook.
